Recommended Hotels
There are three categories of hotel that we will recommend, defined along the axes of price and location.
1. Lower Cost, Nice, Closer to Wedding
If you want a better room for your dollar, but don't care if the hotel is near any nightlife, restaraunts or shops, then Lisa and I recommend 'The Inn at Morgan Hill'. The wedding is 15 mins away. San Francisco is 1.5 hours away.
The hotel is immediately off the freeway with access to 101 North (to San Jose/San Francisco) and 101 South (to Gilroy/the Wedding).
We are reserving a block of 15 rooms, 10 with a king size bed ( 2 people ), and 5 with two queen beds (up to 4 people max). Both types of room are being offered at a group discount of $89.99/night (usually $139.99). The hotel also has a shuttle that will pick you up from San Jose International Airport if you really don't want to rent a car. You just call them when you land, and 30 minutes later they pick you up and get you to the hotel. It is important to note that a car is necessary to get to San Jose, San Francisco, and to the wedding in Gilroy.
The rooms will be blocked and available under 'The Desilets and Miller Wedding', starting 5/4/06.
Hotel Information:

2. Medium cost, off of 101, near San Jose Intl. Airport.
If you'd like to be a bit further north, closer to San Jose and only an hour drive from San Fran, but don't want to spend the extra cash to stay in downtown San Jose, then there are a number of hotels near the airport, on the Eastern side of 101. Our favorite is the Santa Clara Marriot, located next to 'Paramount's Great America', a fun theme park (that's still open during your stay, if you're into that sort of thing) and easy access to 101 and the airport. Prices and contact info forthcoming. We're going to see if we can get a block of rooms reserved at a discount, but this is a higher traffic location and that may not be possible. -stay tuned...
3. Higher cost, right in downtown San Jose
If you'd like to be near some nightlife and posh restaraunts, and don't mind spending a little extra for your stay, we recommend The Fairmont Hotel. We will not be reserving any blocks of rooms here. There are a number of fabulous restaurants within walking distance, including a very nice grill located on the bottom floor, adjacent to the hotel lobby.
Additionally, there is a 'downtown San Jose Marriott' near the Fairmont. It is attached to the convention center, which may increase noise levels and foot traffic in the common areas.
